Junior Achievements
On March 6 the web designers and video production class teamed up to a day out and teach the younger generation. Our task was chosen at Middle Village to teach economy and jobs to the fifth graders. Beginning of our task we had 1 week to review our material and create lessons that would captivate our audiences attention. Out of 5 session i was given session 3. We all decided to work on the sessions together and combine our knowledge to teach each lesson collaboratively. We had one leader per session while the rest supported and helped out in any way through that session to make sure we were giving 100%. Once the day came to finally teach the kids we were ready and prepared not only because this wasn't our first time but because we took time out and dedicated to learning the material to make it the best time for the kids. Once we arrived there all my nerves were gone and was ready to connect with the kids. Time went by quick as we tried our best to complete each session efficiently and well enough so that the kids can actually go home remembering something from that day. This was a great experience because it took everyone out of there comfort zones and put them in a situation where they would be the teachers for the first time. This trip during Senior year was funner and netter because i wasn't nervous at all and knew what i was already going to do. I've learned that time management is still something i struggle with but as we worked as a team we professionally got our ideas across while keeping the class on task and having fun. I would love to do this again or every year during school because it was a good time connecting with the younger generation.
